Who We AreKomen NationalHistoryNancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Susan G. Komen for the CureŽ is an international organization with a network of volunteers working through local affiliates and Susan G. Komen Race for the CureŽ events to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures. Today, Susan G. Komen for the CureŽ is the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network of survivors and activists working to end breast cancer forever. Susan G. Komen for the CureŽ is 125 affiliates strong, located in cities and communities across the U.S., Germany, Italy, and Puerto Rico. By the end of 2007, Komen will have invested nearly $1 billion in breast cancer research and community outreach programs, becoming the world's largest source of nonprofit funds fighting the disease.
