ABOUT KOMEN ST. LOUIS

Susan G. Komen St. Louis works year-round with a focus on fulfilling a promise: to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

Locally incorporated, Komen St. Louis raises funds through events like the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure. Komen St. Louis has invested more than $37 million, both locally and nationally, in the fight against breast cancer since 1999. Seventy-five percent of the net dollars raised
stays in our 17-county Missouri and Illinois service area to fund breast health and breast cancer screening, education and patient navigation programs. The remaining twenty-five percent funds global breast cancer research including research being done here in St. Louis. Since 1999, Komen St. Louis has contributed nearly $9 million to Susan G. Komen for global research; at the same time more than $20 million has come back to St. Louis facilities for vital breast cancer research. More than 100 percent of the funds raised by Komen St. Louis since 1999 have come back to St. Louis.

KOMEN ST. LOUIS GRANT FUNDING

Susan G. Komen St. Louis grants funding to local non-profit organizations and governmental institutions for innovative, non-duplicative, evidence-based projects in the areas of breast health and breast cancer screening, education and support programs targeting services not otherwise available to the medically underserved populations in our 17-county service area. Komen St. Louis funding is limited and awarded through a competitive process. All grant applications are subjected to rigorous review by an independent panel of local professionals from varied backgrounds, including medicine, business, public health, and breast cancer survivors. This panel is responsible for making the final decisions regarding grant awards. Grant awards are for one year (April 1-March 31). Organizations receiving grant awards must re-apply each year.

A complete list of all of our grantees, funded since 1999, can be found here: www.komenstlouis.org.
